FIGHT FILMS: FLESH AND BLOOD (1979)!

Tom Berenger plays a young boxer who struggles to reach the top while finding romance with an attractive TV reporter. This relationship is complicated by an incestuous relationship with his mother.

John Cassavetes, as the dedicated fight manager, received an Emmy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor. Mitch Ryan, Dolph Sweet and Denzel Washington co-star.

Adapted by Eric Bercovic from Pete Hamill’s novel of the same name, this television mini-series is best remembered for Suzanne Pleshette (as Kate Fallon) seducing her son played by Tom Berenger – very strong stuff for ‘70s television.

  1. Thanks for posting "Flesh and Blood" tv-miniseries article on your site. Wish they would show it on TV again so a new generation could see it. It was some of Tom Berenger's best work. Yes, I have a DVD copy of the mini-series (parts 1 & 2) and I own the green satin "Irish Bobby Fallon" jacket in the above pic....autographed by Tom Berenger, of course!
